Description

The name “argentite” refers to the high-temperature form of sulfide, which is only stable when silver above 177 ° C. It is a black substance, insoluble in water.

Argentopyrite is named for its relationship to pyrite and silver content. It forms columnar crystals or granular aggregates of brown color. It occurs as crusts of ehedral crystals formed in hydrothermal veins.
